Games, Guns, Curry, & Crafts Recap

Welcome, my delightful Pagan friends! I’m absolutely thrilled to share that this is the very first post from the blog known as Straw-Death! Today, we’re going to dive right into the fantastic and magickal weekend that I was truly privileged to be a part of, filled with laughter, connection, and a sprinkle of the unexpected! We had a great weekend, and for those that couldn’t be in attendence I’d like to give you a little recap of our happy memories!

Friday Night Bonfire

Friday nights at Deeply Rooted Church are always a delightful surprise whenever we host an event. Most of the time, some of our regular members joyfully begin to pile in, bringing with them an air of familiarity and fun. If the weather is just right, we usually light a bonfire that flickers invitingly against the night sky, and we have a great time reconnecting with one another in the warm glow of the flames.

This particular night was no exception; as the bonfire warmed us, we happily chatted, shared silly jokes, and generally relished the cheerful company of our friends and family. The evening was simply perfect for stargazing, while we all paused to listen to the symphony of local wildlife that surrounded us.

Our featured guests included the two magnificent barred owls that perched nearby, the elusive coyotes howling in the distance, and, of course, a few curious cats making their rounds!

Saturday Nature Walk & Action!

On Saturday, we joyfully awoke to the delightful aroma of a potluck breakfast that was tantalizingly accompanied by steaming cups of rich, aromatic coffee. As we engaged in lively morning conversations filled with laughter and fun, I decided to take a little stroll outside to savor the breathtaking sights of the gorgeous Wisconsin autumn scenery all around us. I set myself the challenge to capture stunning pictures of the magickal change of seasons. Oh, how wonderfully different each of the colorful leaves looked!

I marveled at how the natural decay of the plants was progressing in its own unique way and how the wildlife was adapting to the subtle shift in weather conditions. To my delight, I encountered a bustling hive of honey bees clinging to the goldenrod flowers that bloom generously around the property. They seemed a bit chilly but surprisingly allowed me to gently pet them, which was an unexpected thrill!

As the day unfolded, more guests arrived to join our delightful gathering. Together, we embarked on nature walks, engaging in deep and meaningful conversations about Paganism, magick, self-care, mental health, and a plethora of other intriguing topics.

Some of our members, who are well-trained in firearm safety, took the opportunity to shoot their guns while also patiently teaching other interested members the important ins and outs of appropriately handling firearms.

Lunchtime eventually rolled around, and we were treated to an amazing variety of delicious curries, as befitting the name of the weekend! Each contribution was a unique recipe, resulting in a vibrant kaleidoscope of flavors that danced on our taste buds!

As the temperature dipped in the evening, we cozied up together around some engaging card and tabletop games. The atmosphere was filled with joy and laughter that bounced off the walls like a delightful echo. I chose to head to bed a bit earlier than most, but I can honestly tell you that it’s a true joy to drift off to sleep, all the while hearing the warm sounds of fellowship and fun emanating from the gathering.

There’s no experience quite like it, knowing that these are people who genuinely cherish each other’s company. It’s a blessing that fills my heart with gratitude.

Sunday & Conclusion

Sunday is kind of a wonderfully lazy day. We wake up leisurely, savoring a delightful breakfast, sipping on warm coffee, and reveling in the lovely company of one another. As the morning unfolds, people are beginning to pack up their belongings in a gentle, relaxed manner. As I’m sitting there, I’m feeling truly refreshed and revitalized. The major difference between events I’ve attended or hosted elsewhere is that instead of feeling drained and exhausted, I feel energized and inspired, wanting to do more and more. I’ll be posting a delightful gallery of pictures from my nature walk soon, so keep your eyes peeled! Stay tuned, and thank you for taking the time to read!
